Hong Kong Travel Diary
Our trip to Hong
Kong, took us three whole days of nonstop whirlwind adventure - stopping at
nothing to give you the best adventures in an unkown land, day and night
shopping, and city views that take your breath away.
Day 1
December 4, 2016 –
me and my friends Jc, Eileen, Roseann and Jona arrived at Hong Kong
International Airport. First on our itinerary is Ngong Ping 360 - Lantau
Island, since the area is closer from the airport. We took the MTR from the
airport and took off at Tung Chung Station, where we stopped by the City gate
outlets - one of the best places to shop for branded items for a lower price.
Upon stepping out of the cable car, you will see the Ngong Ping village which architecturally designed to reflect the old culture and theme. Then as you walk further you will get to see the famous Tian Tian Buddha statue, sitting 34 metres high and facing north to look over the Chinese people, this majestic bronze Buddha draws pilgrims from all over Asia. We climbed the 268 steps for a closer look of this remarkable statue, also made a wish and hopefully the Big Buddha will grant it.
Our next day was
dedicated for a visit to Hongkong Disneyland, which claims to be the happiest
place on earth. The train ride at the Sunny Bay Station will already give you a
feel of the disneyland experience, with hidden mickeys everywhere! And once we
arrived at the theme park, we took some time taking our tourist shot at the
gate feeling excited to finally get there.
The place is
magical, beautifully designed, giving you that childhood feel again. Each attraction
were designed based on a disney movie with kid friendly rides which we tried to
experience as much as we can. My favorites and highly recommended are the Grizzly
Gulch ride and the Mystic Manor.
Another highlight of our disneyland experience which I really really enjoyed are the parades. You really should not miss this. There is an afternoon parade around 3PM where you get to see the disney princesses, mickey mouse and friends, toy story characters and more of the disney family. And then around 7pm is the Night Parade: Disney paint the night, which is super amazing, with all the dazzling lights and colours, state-of-the art floats and costumes, and catchy choreography and music.
And for the main
event and definitely must-see is the Fireworks spectacular. A display of fireworks
beautifully choreographed along with Disney themes, which almost made me cry.
It really is an indescribable feeling, a magical night I would not forget.
Day 3
First of our
agenda is to shop at Mongkok, at first we were kind of lost and unsure of where
to go, but after finding out where we can buy our pasalubongs we couldn't stop
and that took half of our day. Though next time, it is best to spend a whole
day dedicated for shopping only.
Next we went on
our way to Sky Terrace 428: The Peak Hongkong. It is the highest outdoor
viewing platform in Hong kong. We got ourselves a package of Sky terrace- the
peak tram roundtrip ride- and Madamme Tussaud Wax Museum ticket. The tram is
like an old train with a very steep railway, which is kind of scary at first,
but it was a fun experience.
We went inside Madamme Tussaud’s Wax museum ang found ourselves
surrounded by the real life looking wax figures of Holywood and Asian stars, athletes
and other famous people. I have always dreamt of seeing my ultimate idol Audrey
Hepburn, and being beside her wax figure felt so surreal.
To end the night we went to the Victoria Peak, and had a view of
Hong Kong’s beautiful skyline. A perfect end to our trip. It was hard to fit
everything in to our limited stay, but we surely made the most of it. Thanks to
my travel buddies we had a great and fun time. See you again Hong Kong.
