Calaguas Travel Diary (Part1)

Just before summer officially ends, I and my travel buddies, Ho,Moh,and Jer, decided to spend the last weekend of May discovering Calaguas Island. It is a beautiful, isolated, and pristine Island in Camarines Norte. It takes 9 hours travel time plus 2 hours boat ride to get there if you are coming from Manila, but once you reach the beach known as Mahabang Buhangin, it is impossible not to be ecstatic. I was shocked at how beautifully fine the sand was and was mesmerized on how the water and sky were a perfect harmony of blue hues.

There are no commercial establishments in this Island, there are only cottage or tent accomodations, and there are toilets but you have to pump from the deep well to get a fresh water supply, So if you are expecting fancy hotel rooms, cafes, and restaurants, then forget Calaguas.  This unspoiled island will make you have a break on the easy and techy life in the city.

Aside from enjoying the beach there are other activities this place offers, like island hopping and snorkeling which only cost 120php. So the rest of the afternoon were spent exploring every inch and every corner of Calaguas, We even stumble into a pretty star fish, which we eventually named patrick star and became our buddy until the next day.

To cap off our first day in this incredible island, we admired the sunset and enjoyed a warm night swimming. This is the kind of place you dream about going to, totally worth it!
